With a focus on getting the most out of genetics and nutrition 20 beef producers participated in Meat & Livestock Australia’s (MLA) BredWell FedWell interactive workshop on 17 November. Producers travelled from across the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Yorke Peninsulas to attend the workshop at Bottlesford Murray Greys, Tungkillo.
Presenter Jake Phillips from Angus Australia said participants learnt about profit drivers in their business including developing a customised breeding and feeding plan which highlighted the feed supply and demand curves of their enterprise and the traits relevant to the farm and their target market.
“We enjoyed hospitality from a great host in Darren Koopman with participants rating the satisfaction of the day at least 9/10 on average and 100% recommendation to other producers. Many attendees said they will be adopting new practices on their farm as a result of attending” said Jake.
Host Darren Koopman said it was a pleasure to host the Bredwell Fedwell workshop at his Tungkillo property. Darren added:
“The workshop was a terrific forum for participants to discuss their production systems and challenge their thinking around breeding programs and feeding plans. The full day program provided lots of useful information for producers to take away and use within their businesses”.
BredWell FedWell was supported by BIGG and Nutrien Ag Solutions Fawcett Livestock to reduce the attendance fee.
