BIGG welcomes new board members

BIGG producers, stakeholders and supporters joined at Wanera Wine Bar in Angaston on 26th October to attend the BIGG AGM and annual celebration.

Four new board members were welcomed to the BIGG board including Julian Maul (Vice Chair), Leon Deans, Laura Baker and Adam Burford joining existing board members Pete Mitchell (Chair), Vic Patrick, Sarah Weaver and Taryn Mangelsdorf.

Chairperson, Pete Mitchell highlighted BIGG’s projects and events over the past year including the BIGG Conference From the Ground Up; and seven face-to-face pasture and livestock events. Major projects included:

  • Building local capacity to support drought preparedness across the generations and community
  • On-Farm water technology
  • Continuing mixed species pastures
  • Beef snapshot and producer events
  • National containment ewe and pasture monitoring for drought preparedness project

The evening concluded with a presentation from Peta Brettig, Department of Environment and Water giving an overview on the Barossa Water Security Strategy 2050 including an update on the status of the Barossa Water Allocation Plan.

BIGG thanks it’s project stakeholders, sponsors, producers and outgoing board members Stephan Anesbury, Lisa Nietschke and Craig John for their time, knowledge and support. BIGG exists by producers for producers and will continue to work from the ground up to support the local grazing community.
