34 attendees, including visitors from the Fleurieu Beef Group, joined together at Warren and Barbara Fargher's Flaxman Valley property for an afternoon of networking, discussions and information on 18 March.
As part of the BIGG On-farm Water Innovations Project (Phase 1), the Fargher's have been utilising both the Hydrosmart and Farmbot remote cellular tank level monitor device to manage water security more efficiently and sustainably since 2022.
Speaking on the Farmbot tank level monitoring device Warren said at the site visit; "this innovation has been a huge help. It gives us peace of mind that we are able to monitor our water security from a distance, as often as we like, and we can check our dashboard on my phone from anywhere in Australia. It has saved us time and money. If it broke today, I would buy another one without hesitation. We have a sheep and cattle station, and if we were running stock there now, we would have these remote tank level monitors installed on every water tank. It has been a real game changer."
Warren also discussed the benefits of the Hydrosmart system, whilst Hydrosmart representatives Paul and Matthew further explained how the systems worked, including adaptability with bores, dams and irrigation systems.
